Thoughts for Emergents?

Will the ‘emergent’ movement turn out to be similar to Chesteron’s man who sets to sea, gets tossed by the waves, and stumbles to shore to discover the temple at Brighton? Is it all a searching, a jettisoning of old and dead junk, or a wandering waste of incomplete thoughts, needlessly heady banter, and interrogative semi-statements? My library leads me to believe this video has something to say to the village.

  1. I speak without conviction, with open ended statements that sound more like questions because I dont have any authority. Chances are ill see things completely differently in a few years so there is very little I am sure of. Im not even sure of that.

  2. May this future be yours, Collin.

I have to tell you that my favorite twist on your comment is that even with your words, your email address has “shot caller” in it! Love it!

Authority and conviction, in my experience, have less to do with rightness and wrongness than with identity. And with identity comes not authority, necessarily, nor conviction, but freedom to have a voice and to take up the room a person takes up.

Identity comes from… scrap that. I was just reading something that I think says better stuff than I’m about to. I’ll add a new post shortly.

Thank you, Collin, for stopping by and for leaving a comment.
